Feilding Borough Council

Tuesday, January 15, 1889. A special meeting was held as above to receive the report of the Finance Committee on the Poundkeeper's books. Present — Dr Monckton (Mayor), Crs Chamierlain, Haybittle, Eutherford, Powles, <Goodbehere, J. C. Thompson, and Fairfield Thompson. The Mayor stated the authority under which the Finance Committee had acted, and invited the Chairman thereof to give the report ; but before doing so he moved •that the Council go into Committee. — This was seconded by Cr J. C. Thompson, and ' The Council then went into Committee, "when the report was received as read. The Council having resumed, it was Proposed by Cr J. C. Thompson, sec--onded by Cr W. E. Chamberlain, That •owing to the Poundkeeper and Kanger having failed to pay the rent in terms of his agreement, summary action be taken to recover the amount due, and one month's notice be given to terminate his services and cancel the agreement with •him. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Goodbehere, seconded ;by Cr Haybittle, That the Mayor be asked to wait upon the Agent of the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation, and obtain from him a valid lease of the Pound premises, and that the rent of same to date be tendered to the lessors.-^Carried. Proposed by Cr Haybittle, seconded by «Cr Fowles, That alternate applications be received for the positions of Eanger and Poundkeeper. — Carried. The Mayor said the Finance Committee "were to be complimented on the action jfchey had taken and terminated.
