(per press association.) Dunrdin. This Dny. Th« following weights have been de--clared for the Ihmedin Cup: — Carbine and Manton, Bst 121 b; Silence, Bat 71b ; Chainshot, Bst 41b; Sultan, Bst; British Lion and Dudu, 7st 121 b; Silvermark, 7st 101 b; Beresfold, 7st 91b ; Wolverine and j Lorraine, 7st 81b ; Son-of-a-Gun, 7st slb ; j Exchange, 7st 31b ; Ravenswing, 7st 21b ; ; Ruby and Quibble, 7st;St. Clair, Meta, j -and Leopold, 6st 121 b; Jet d'Eau and Engagement, 6st 101 b; Le Temps and ! Enid, 6st 81b ; Sir Walter and Vandal, 6st 71b ; Rainbow, St. James, and Wildrake, ■6st slb ; St. Malo, Satyr, Occident, and Lisbon, 6st 81b; Leon, 6st 21b; Gipsy Prince and Miss Lucy, 6Bt. (Notes by " Maxim." The Foxton Racing Club's Handicap, ping Committee issued their adjustment for their annual meeting, to be held on the 22nd of January, last Saturday. They should have had, in the light of the running at Rangitikei and Palmereton, far frpjn difficult handicaps to frame, and yet they are full of flagrant blunders. In the Hurdle Race Oddfellow is again shamefully treated : like he was at Palm•«rston and at Rangitikei on both days. It seems as if the handicappers are handicapping the owner instead of ttie horse. How, I will compare the Wanganui Hurdle Race on the 9th November with -the Foxton one. Kangaroo (list 101 b) has exactly the same weight as he won with in Wanganui. Germaine (lOst 91b) is asked to carry 21bs more. Maribyruong (lOst 4lb) 25lbs more than he carried in Wanganui. (There is no doubt he ig entitled to the above weight on his running at Rangitikei and Palraerston). ■Oddfellow (lOst) is asked to carry a stone more than he did in Wanganui. Why, I don't know, as he has shown no improvement whatever. According to the runu ning in Wanganui, I consider Kangaroo P and Oddfellow should have met on the Ciicae terms again, and theu it would be slightly in the top weight's favor. Kincrag (lOst) meets Kangaroo on 7lbs better terms, and Oddfellow on 211bs better. Ruapehu (9st 51b) meets Kangaroo on 71bs better terms. None of the others -were engaged in the Wanganui Hurdle Race. I like the chances of Kangaroo, Maribyrnong, and Kincraig, and one of them should win. In the Foxton Handicap, Strenuous is :aUotted pride of place with Bst 81b. To give the light weight division a show he should have had not less than Bst 121 b. The Spy (Bst 41b) seems to me to be badly treated. It will be remembered by those ■who saw the Rangitikei Handicap what a great race it was between Strenuous, The Spy, andlEcl&t— a sheet would have covered the four a* the finish. In that race The Spy carried 7st 101 b, including 61bs -overweight. Now he is asked to meet Strenuous on 12lbs worse terms, Ahua on 81bs worse, and Eclafe on 121bs worse. I should take any one of the trio to beat him at Foxton at the weights. Why should Camomile concede weight to Ruapehu, Eclat, and Petroleum in a long distance race? I shall expect to see the finish of this race fought out between -Strenuous and Ahua, with Eclat and Petroleum as next best. In the Stewards' Stakes Camomile is again badly treated by being asked to carry 71bs more than what he was handicapped at in the Railway Handicap, same distance, at Rangitikei, when he did not start. All the others have less weight to carry than they had in that race, and I have very little fault to find with any of them, with the exception of Strenuous and The Spy, who might have had a few pounds more. These two ought to be very handy at the finish with the weights. In the Flying Handicap Strenuous is asked to carry 9st 101 b, and concede lOlbs to Rufus, who beat him easily in a mile race at Bulls at a difference of 31bs. Why he should be asked to carry 121bs more in ibis race than he has in the Stewards, I Hjan't understand. He has never proved himself a flyer, and it is a long while since he started in a Flying Handicap. Prudence, I consider, is pitchforked into this race with 6st 101 b: she won the Two-year-old Handicap in Wanganui last March with 7st 71b on her back, and cut the threerqnarters out in lmin 18sec, and in the Flying Handicap at Rangitikei, with 7st 71b, she ran a good fourth. She now meets Rufus on 18lbs better terms, Camomile on 25lbs better, Pandora on 61bs better, and Vision on 61bs better than she did in the Flying at Rangitikei. Next to Prudence, I prefer the chances of Rutus and Paradox. The programme of the Feilding Jockey Club's annual race meeting for Easter Monday is announced. There are seven events to be decided, with a total of £ 300 in added money, the principal event being the Feilding J.C. Handicap, of 115 «o vs. Then comes the Flying Handicap of 60 govs, Hurdles 40 soys, Winter Oats 40 soys! Three hack races, of 15 soys e&eh, complete 4he bill of fare. ; [Since the above was put in type, I learn from the Herald that Oddfellow has ■W fi «n scratched far Foxton Hurdles.J
