Feilding Jockey. Club
A meeting of the Stewards of the Feilding Jockey Club was held on Thursday evening last. There was a good attendance, Mr Macarthur, M.H.R., being in the chair. After confirming the minutes of the previous meeting The Secretary read a letter from the owner of Corsair, Mr Scally, protesting against Te Whiti taking the stakes in the Flying Handicap at the recent Hack meeting. The letter concluded by naming Te Whiti's performances. Resolved, That the Committee consider Te Whiti was wrongfully entered for the Flying Handicap, he having previously won an advertised race (not a hack race), and that the Metropolitan Club place the horse in the defaulters' list, under rule 140, until the stakes are refunded ; copy of this resolution to be sent to Mr Scally. Resolved, That the owner of Te Whiti be requested to refund the Flying Handicap stakes, and that Mr Scally be informed of the fact. The Secretary reported profits on the lost meeting to be £129 12s. On deposit, £135. In bank, £2 7s 6d. Total finances of the Club, £266 19s 6d. The Secretary (Mr Sandilands) was voted £10, and the Handicapper (Mr J. Henry) £5 respectively for their services at the recent meeting. Messrs Hill & Poole's offer to work the j totalisator at the Easter meeting was accepted. Mr Henry was appointed Handioapper for the Easter meeting. • After passing for payment a number of ftocounte the meeting adjourned.
