Melbourne, December 27, Phenomenal heat has been experienced in the country districts during the last few days, and disastrous bush firea have been raging in the neighbourhood of Kilmore, Echuca, and Uamperdown. Adelaide, December 27. Christmas Day was the hottest ever experienced here, the thermometer being 107 in the shade. Hobart, December 27. The Ruapehu met with a slight accident to her machinery which prevented her leaving for New Zealand till 6 o'clock last night. During the voyage a passenger, named Cross died of consumption. Sydvby, December 28 Although rain ha 9 fallen in the Bourke District it bas had no effect on the drought, and the river has stopped running. At places the weather is excessively hot and dry.
