Borough Affairs
In the election for the vacancy in the . Borough Council, to take place to-morrow, we have already declared openly in favor of Mr Joun Gould as the populace candi- J date. We have now only to remind the j electors that if they return Mr Gould, » and we have every confidence that he will be placed at the head of the poll, f they will send a gentleman into the Coun- i cil to repi'esent the whole of the rate- ] papers, not a mere party or clique. There ' has been in the past history of the ] Feilding Borough Council a strong suspicion of conservatism, which is now, happily, entirely removed, and the rate- , payers should have no desire to see a ; renewal of that objectionable secret sys- ( tern, which is alleged to have existed for < so long. Mr Gould is one who will act openly and aboveboard in the Council, as he has in every action of his public and : private life since he became a resident in J the Borough. We feel sure that his manly ; and upright character, combined with his strong common sense and knowledge of ' the real requirements of the burgesses, will make him a most valuable acquisition to the list of Councillors. Our advice then is for all ratepayers, who desire to see their affairs properly managed in the Council, without fear, favor, or prejudice, to vote for Mr John Gould.
