The Sydney Markets
The N.Z. L. & M. Company repori under date November 27th : — Butter (»iu?y Id per lb). — Our market since writing on the 17th inst. as we anticipated, steadily improved, and this week the Butter Company have fldvaiK-ed the price of best Coast But* ter to 11- but at this quotation buyers art* at present not inclined to meet the market. Best imported butter may now be quoted a* up to 1/5 for really prime packed, aud we see no reason now why prices should not be well uiaiutaiued for some time to come. Cheese (duty 2d per lb). — Owing to supplies of our own local cheese coining to hand very freely just at present, prices have, for the time being eased somewhat, and we cannot now quote best makes at above 9£d, though we anticipate a recovery in prices before very long. Speculation in the shape of forward purchases still continues and we have placed the output of several other New Zealand factories since last writing. Hams (duty 2d per lb) —The demand for hams since last we wrote ha* not improved to any extent, and our quotation then given ; viz., from l/to 1/1 still holdeHgood. Bacon (duty 2d per lb) is without alteration, and we again quote 9^d as a full figure for favoured brands.
