Manchester Road Board

Saturday, December 1, 1888. (Continued from last issue ) Proposed by Mr Iteeve, seconded by Mi Wheeler, That Mr Christensan be giver permission to fall bush in front of his sec tion, about 9 chains ot street in Mugbj Junction on the Board's usual terms. — Carried. Mr Derby waited on the Board re Feild^ ing-Bunnythorpe road. He stated he could not bring in his wool, the bridge being impassable for vehicles. The Chairman said the Board would do what they could to make it passable. Proposed by Mr Eeeve, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the Engineer be asked to get the bridge complained of by Mr Derby, on the Feilding-Bunnythorpe road, made passable as earty as possible — Carried. A general discussion took place on the damage to the dolphin at the Otangaki bridge. Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, Beconded by Mr Beeve, That the Clerk draw the attention of the Feilding Borough Council to the state of the bridge on the FeildingAshurst road, and to the steps which this Board wishes to be taken to put it in proper repair. — Carried. :Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That the next meeting of the Board be on Saturday, the 22nd inst., instead of the Ist Saturday in January. — Carried. A letter was here received from S. Shepherd, and it was Proposed by Mr Beeve, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That Mr Shepherd be given permission to fall bush fronting his section on the Board's usual terms. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Jones, That the Engineer's recommendation, to purchase a quarter of an acre from Mr Lloyd to deviate Henderson's line, be carried out. — Carried. The application of R. K. Beid was considered, with the result that the Engineer and Mr Eeeve were appointed to look into the matter. The account for work done on the Onepuhi bridge was then considered. General dissatisfaction was expressed as to the ■ amount of the liability, and the fact of it being incurred without the Board having any control over the expenditure, but the account was passed for payment. Proposed by Mr Lethbribge, seconded by Mr Eeeve, That the Clerk write asking the Borough Council if it will assist this Board in metalling the Cemetery road. — Carried. Tenders were then opened. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Eeeve, That the tenders of Mr Bowler for the Valley road, Mr Schwass for Hal-cornbe-Feilding road, Mr Morris for Halcombe- Sandon road, be accepted — Carried. Accounts for .£BB6 13s 9d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
