Manchester Road Board

The ordinary monthly meeting of tbis Board was held to-day. Present — Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge (in the chair), Wheeler, Reeve, and Pryce-Jones. Tbe miuutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From Secretary Wanganui Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, re election of tbree members. From same, decerning to admit the claim of the Board for £12 2s 4d. From Robert Currie, drawing attention to the portion of the road between Ashurst and Bunnythorpe, and asking tbat something be done towards making it passable for drays. From A. Miers, applying for transfer of the name of Robert Lankshear to rate roll for section 4, Ashurst. From Commissioner of Crowu Lands, informing the Board that tho Forest Reserve Belt, Lower Gorge Ferry, would be gazetted as a reserve for river protection and plantation purposes. From Clerk of Rangitikei County Council, with explanation of the charges for labor on the Onepuhi bridge for re-decking, and asking for a cheque for same. From Mr Aitken, reporting Lower Gorge bridge to be safe. Telegram, appointing the Clerk of the Board Returning Officer for the Hospital and Cdari table Aid Board elections. From Tilhelm Christensen, applying for permission to fall the bush iu front of his sections, about 9 chains, of street in Mugby Junction From R. K. Reid, of Stoney Creek, drawing attention to the state of the road drain fronting section No. 58, Manchester Block, and requesting the Board will immediately cause the same to be cleared out, as his land adjoining the drain had been planted with potatoes, and the water overflowing the drain, has damaged the paddock to the extent of £60, for which he enclosed account, and asked the Board to give it immediate attention to avoid litigation. Mr Reeve presented a petition from the residents on Harrison's line, asking the Board %o raise funds to form and metal said road. — Referred to the Engineer to report next meeting. From H. C. Madsen, asking the name of Mr Bell be substituted for his on rate roll. From the Feilding Borough Council, applying for a refund of money spent on Cemetery road. The Engineer's report was read. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the name of R. Lankshear be placed on the rate roll for section 4, Ashurst road, in place of A. Miers. — Carried. Eruine Paranaki and Winetti Te Tau waited on the Board re Mcßae's road. They were informed they would be kept fully advised as to what was being done under the Public Works Act. An account from R. Anderson for bushfelling was held over for the Engineer's report. [Left sitting.]
