The Feilding Star. SATURDAY, DEC. 1, 1888. Government Land Sales
. « Although it is contrary to journalistic etiquette to advertise anything '* free, gratis, and for nothiug," yet we have decided to make an exception in the case of some sections for sale hy the Minister of Lands, situate somewhere near Apiti, one of the best and most fertile parts of this district, the plans of which may seen at the Feilding Post Office. We do this in order to give local and bona fide settlers a chance against the speculators or land sharks favored by the Government. The Minister of Lands in an interview with Mr G. Carson, a representative of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce, is reported to have said in reply to the question : •* Don't you think it is the duty of the Government to lead the people in the way of settlement," in a decided negative. The sooner this Minister gives place to a hotter man, the better for the country.
