Elections Wanganui H. & C. A Board

A special meeting of the Borougl Council was held at 11.45 a.m. yesterday. Present — Mr S. Goodbehere # (Mayor), Crs Mouckton, Haybittle, W. E. Chamberlain, T. R. Chamberlam, J. C. Thompson, and Fovrtes. After stating the objects of th'o meeting, the Mayor said be had asked Mr Macarthur to accept the position, and that gentleman bad complied. Cr Haybittle said, in that case, there was no need for the meeting, if the matter was to be settled without the intervention of the other Councillors. He thought it a pity that everything should be thrust upon Mr Macarthur, and that other members of the Council should have no opportunities giyen them of becoming familiar with the working of other puhlie bodies. Mr Macarthur would probably represent the Manchester Road Board, aad therefore the district would still have the benefit of his services. Cr J. C. Thompson concurred. After some conversation, it was proposed by Cr Chamberlain, seconded by Cr J: C. Thompson, That Dr F. A. Monekton be appointed to represent the Boroughs of Feilding and Marton on the Hospital Board.— Carried. A. letter was. read from Mr Carr, applying for a license for the new Assembly Booms. The Mayor said the application would be granted. Messrs D. H. Macarthur and H. A. Walker were elected members for the Manchester and Manawatu Districts respectively.
