In some of the inland towns the smokft is so thick that tbe sun has not been seen for days. The heat in Melbourne on Saturday was 101 in the shade. Two deaths are reported from suastroke at Hotham. Excessive heat was experienced on Saturday in Adelaide. The glass was 105 in the shade. A water famine at Charters Towers is expected. The schools will all be closed in consequence.
