Mahakipawa Goldfields
(Times' Correspondent.) Havelocx, November 19. Owing to the wet weather lately, comparatively little mining has been done, but yet the yield upon the whole may be deemed satisfactory. The Maoris at Mahakipawa have obtained over 40oz. Scaife and party's ground is still payable. Aldridge and party have sold out for £200, and Jones and party from a paddock 12ft square got 560z. Beauchamp has sold his share for £30. It is not at all unlikely that we may hear of a rush down the Pelorous Sound, at North-west Bay. Several parties have gone down there, and many are satisfied with the prospects. Again, there are reports of gold being fouud at the "World's End," Pelorous Sound. Schenkle and party got 7oz on Thursday, and four sailors, who are working on a terrace 100 ft above the prospectors' claim at Mahakipawa, are reported to be doing whII.
