Education Board
The usual monthly meeting of the Education Board was held on Tuesday. Presont — Messrs Carson (Chairman), Ross, Sanson, Beckett, Fry, Notman, Baker, and Bridge. Appointments Committee. — Feilding : From the Committee respecting change of master ; letter from Mr Dowling acknowledging copy of Committee's letter. Resolved that the mat ter stand over for further consideration at the next meeting of the Board. From Awahuri Committee recommending Rose Lucas as cadet ; approved of, if confirmed by the Inspector. Building Grant.— Letter from the Education Department advising the Board of £812 12s 6d for building grant. Palmerston. ~ Resolved that the salary of the fourth assistant mistress at Palmerston be £75 per annum.— Letter from the Palmerston Committee stating that they had collected £30 for building a shelter shed at Terrace End, and asking the Board to subsidise the same ; also for additions to the central school.— lt was moved by Mr Sanson, and seconded by Mr Notmaa, That the architect be cent to ascertain how best the additions cau ;be made. — Carried. Building Grant. — Moved by Mr Bridge, and seconded by Mr Notman, That the smallness of the building grant will not permit of the Board spending any more money except upon the erection of, and repairs to school buildings and residences. — Carried. Feilding. — Eepairs to residence referred to Mr Fry. Bulls. — Letter from the Bulls Committee forwarding an account for money spent in drainage. — Resolved that the account cannot be recognised. Stanway. — Time for tenders to be extended. Marton. — Letter from Committee respecting additions to teacher's residence. Referred to by Mr Beckett.
