The meeting in connection with the above, which was held on Thursday evening, was eminently satisfactory, and may be accepted as a gjod indication tbat the Sports here on Boxing Day will be equal, if not superior, to any of their predecessors. The Committee is a strong and influential one, while among the Stewards appointed are co be found the names of gentlemen particularly well qualified for the faithful performance of their several duties. We understand that several more gentlemen, who were unavoidably absent from the meeting, have since sent in their names as being willing to act in the capacity of either Committeemen or Stewards. This is as it should be, evincing, as it does, a desire to help where help is at all times so welcome. It will be seen from the balance-sheet published in another column that the receipts for the last year were £214 7s Bd, of which £142 15s 5d was expended in prizes, £24 in advertising, and cost of programmes, £39 18s 7d for general expenses, which sum includes £13 2s for building a dressing-room, and £10 for the Band. At the Committee meeting, to be held on this day week, a most attractive programme will be prepared. It is highly probable that the money given in prizes will be increased somewhat, as the expenses will not be bo heavy as in former years. At the meeting we noticed, with pleasure, the alacrity with which subscribers came forward, and feel confident that the public generally will show the same spirit of liberality.
