At the cattle sales to-day 75 bullocks from Wauganui ranged from £S 13s to £9 6s per head and averaged 21s 6d to 223 6d per 1001 b ; 139 sheep fetched 21s 9d ; lambs 15s 9vl, averaging 4d per lb ; pigs, same rate as last sales.

At the yards Hokitika, on Monday, the attendance was small add the bidding dull. Fat Cattle— Mark Sprot and Co. yarded 47, and G. W. Moss and Co. 30 head, all fat buliockß, which found buyers at from 20s to 23s per 1001 b. Fat Sheep — Mark Sprot & Co. penned 220, quality very middling, which sold at from 14s to 18s.

Chbistchpbch, October 17. There was fine weather at Addington to-day and a good attendance. Fat Cattle— There was a full average entry, some remarkably good steers being penned, and a good many nice heifers. The largest steers fetched up to £8 15s and the average price of beef would run to 19s 6d per 100 lbs, although in some instances, over that figure was obtained. Store Cattle — There was a fairly large entry «f store cattle, but the demand was not brisk. Well forward 3-year-old steers fetched as high as £4, and heifers in good condition £3 and upwards. Dairy Cattle — A good few dairy cows were on offer, realising current rates but the demand was wholly local and quite limited. Fat Sheep— The supply of sheep •was not very heavy, but about up to the average of last market. The quality, for the most part, was second rate, cross-bred ewes with a smaller proportion of merino and li^ht-weight cross-breds representing the bulk. Some few lines of shora sheep to hand -were well finished out, and sold up to last week's rates, in fact, proportionately, they realised better prices than other classes of sheep in the market. The demand was chiefly local still for good wethers offering suffered but little in price. Other descriptions of butchers' sheep met with decidedly weaker sale. A drop of 6d to Is per head being noticeable in all classes with the two exceptions above reierred to. Best mutton may be quoted at 3d per 1b

Store fcibeep— there was a fair entry ■of store sheep. An exceptionally good line of hoggets fetched 13s 7d — 52 in the Hue, and 20 at 1 la. A line of 385 large framed, well woolled, very even, cross- bred hoggets, at 11s 5d to 11s 6d. Cross-bred ewes at 8s 9d.

Fat Lambs — There was a fairly large eutry of very good lambs, and as high as Us 6d realisbd. Pigs— Over 100 pigs were penned, and for weaners high prices were got, a fair demand for them being manifested.
