WEATHER REPORT.

Meteorological Report for the week ended , Friday, October 5, 1888. The following table *hows the readings of the barometer and rain guage at 9.30 a.m. on tbe days mentioned, and tbe maximum and minimum temperature during the preceding 24 hours : —

As evidence of the mildness of the present winter as compared with that of 1887, tbe following facts will be inter* esting : — During the five months. May to September in the present year, there were 24 frosty nights, and the lowest temperature registered was 28deg. twiceinjune. Daring the same months in 1887, there were 35 frosty nights, and tbe lowest temperature legistered was 26deg. twice in June and twice in August. There were 8 frosty nights in May, 1887, but none in May, 1888 There was only one frosty night in September, 1887, but in September, 1888. the mercury in tbe thermometer fell to freezing point (32deg.) on six nights, which probably accounts for the low rainfall during that month. The mean minimum temperature of the 24 frosty nights in 1888 wan 31 10 deg. For the 35 frosty nights in 1887 it was 29 96 deg. Sakl. Goodbbhbbb. Feilding, October 6. 1888.
