No cause is assigned for the committal of the rash act. Meiboubne, October 2. At Lilydale, a smail town about 24 miles N.K. ot this city, a man named George Syme shot his mother-in-law. a Mrs Clifford, in a quarrel over some family dispute. The unfortunate woman died soon after the tragic . ecu rr ance. The death sentence passed on Mary Kempton on the 7th uit., for the murder of her infant child, has been commuted to impisonment for ten years with hard labour. Hobabt, October 2. Arrived— Tongariro at 7 this morning, with 37 Australian passengers, and 104 for New Zealand. She sails at 9 to* night for New Zealand.
