Eedmond, M.P, for W*xford N ., has been convicted on a charge of conspiring to prevent reletting of lands in Ireland, and sentenced to fire weeks imprisonment without hard labour. The dimensions of the cruisers now building for the Australian station are — Length 265 feet, with displacement of ! 2575 tons. Their horse power will be 7500 each. It is understood that Lord Knutsford has forwarded a despatch to Sir Frederick h. Broome, Governor of Western Australia, suggesting that the Responsi* ble Government Bill should be considered by the Cabinet in November next. Pabis, September 26. M. Bergen, director of the Exposition to be held here next year, desires to limit the space to be allotted to Victoria and JN'ew Zealand to 2000 ft each. St. Petehsburg Sept. 26. The Russian Gofernment hare agreed to subsidise, to the amount of 111,000 roubles, a private line of steamers to run to the Pacific ports of Jorea, China, and Japan, on condition that the vessels engaged in the trade are to be at the disposal of the Government in the time of war. Washington, September 26. A yellow fever scare is extending throughout the Southern States Arm>d vigilance committees are patrulhng with the object of stopping the refugees from entering Florida. In a conflict between some of the latter and one of these parties one man was killed.
