July in England
(From the Birmingham and Midland Counties Herald, of 2nd August.) July* in the year 1888, will be long remembered by all engaged in agriculture as being the coldest, wildesc, and wettest on record. Commencing with very heavy and general rain on the 2nd, it was followed by heavy thunder rains on the 4th and sth, heavy rains twice in the second week, with but very brief intervals of sunshine, succeeded by rains on the 16th and 17th, and again on the 22nd, 24tb, and following days, and concluded with a' lieavy downpour on the 28th and 30th, th* last mentioned day being remarkable for a severe storm at middav, accompanied by heavy gales from N..N.E. * * * Not only has the rainfall been excessive, but the temperature has been abnormally low for a period which is generally the highest in. the year.
