At Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co.'s Paluxerston sale on Thursday the following prices were realised :—Bullocks : 3-year-olds brought £3 10s; 2-year-olds, £2 7s; fat bullocks, £5 6s; dry cows, 38s; weaners, 12s6dto 20s ; milch cows, £5. Latest Wanganui quotations are : — Fat cows, £4 5s to £4 17s 6d; milkers, £2 12s 6d ; store bullocks, £3 15s; fat bullocks, £5 17s. Sheep : Fat wethers, 13s to 13s lOd ; hoggets, 9s 3d ; ewe lambs, poor quality, 7s, Pigs : Good store, 17s 3d ; small store, 8s Id to 12s ; weaners, 6s 3d. Bulls, September 19: Messrs Stevens and Gorton report : — -The prices at our sale at Awahuri yesterday, and. at Bulls last week, were firm, and cattle are moving off far better. The entries were not very large at either of the sales, but the bidding at' both was spirited. Every sheep was sold at both the sales, and the majority of the cattle. The competition for shorn sheep was not so spirited as we anticipated, but we quitted the shorn fat wethers, the first sold by us this year at 9s. We quote : — Cattle.— Bulls : Cows, £2 6s ; milkers, £3 10s to £5; 18-month's halfbred Alderney, £3 to £3 la. Awahuri : Fat bullocks, £5 13s 6d; fat heifers, £3 3er6d ; 3-year mixed, £2 18s 6d ; 2-year steers, £2 6s; 18 -months' and yearling heifers, 30s; 18-months' steers, 34s ; milkers, £4 10s. Sheep. — Bulls : Fat wethers, 14s Id; fat half-bred sheep, 10s Id; woolly hoggets, mixed, 10s 5d to 10s 6d ; hoggets, 6s lOd to 9s 6d. Awahuri: Fat wethers in wool, 12s 9d; shorn, 9s; fat sheep, 12s; hoggets, mixed, 8s 3d. Dunedin, September 19. Fat Cattle — Best bullocks brought £7 10s to £9 ; extra prime, £10 7s 6d ; medium, £3 10s to £7 5s ; others £4 to £5 2s 6d; cows, from £3 Ids to £71756 d. Fat Sheep — Best crosabreds brought from 16s to 18s 6d; others, 13s to 13s 6d ; best merinos, 13s to 14s ; others, 10s 6d to 12s. CHKIBTCHT7BCH, Sept. 19. Fat Cattle— Full supply of very primest bullocks, 21s per 100 lbs ; prime, 20s ; fair to middling, 17s 6d ; ordinary and inferior, 15s downwards. Fat Sheep— The top price for crossbred wethers was 18s; best mutton, a' few pens brought 31s 2d per lb ; good 3d, but a little low in quality ; merinos, up to 15s for prime lots, but ordinary about 13s.
