The steamers Thinivalla and Geiser , came into collision off Sable Island, 3 90 miles south-east of Nova Scotia, r during the night. The Geiser sus--3 tained serious injury, 72 of the passengers and 33 of the crew going down \ with the vessel. There were 31 sur- , fivors from the sunken steamer, and s these along with 450 passengers on - board the Thimvalla were taken on 3 board the steamer Will and, and 1 brought on here. The Thimvalla sustained damage in the collision, and - the captain decided to make for Hali- > fax, Nova Scotia. 7 Halifax. Nova Scotia, Aug. 17. The steamer Thimvalla, which col--1 lided with the steamer Geiser on the j night of the 15 instant, has arrived 3 j here. ___________
