The result of issuing a Jubilee coinage has been to lay up, in cabinets, drawers, and what not, something like half a million of gold. Who has ever seen, a L 5 piece tendered in payment of an ac» count overdue to a newspaper? Yet the mint issued a quarter of a million pounds' worth of L 5 pieces ! The coinage of L 2 pieces amounted to the value of nearly L 200.000.
