Feilding Fire Brigade
A meeting of the Brigade was held last evening at the office of Captain Bray, who occupied the chair. Tbe minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from the Captain of the Woodville Fire Brigade, re engine ; the Secretary of tbe Marton Fire Brigade, re competition and Art Union ; and the Wanganu-. Iron and Brass Foundry, re fire-bell, with invoice of bell — weight, Bcwt. 3qrs. 81bs. ; and price, £5 13s 6d. The Captain and Lieutenant Hosking reported their visit to Woodville to inspect engine. After a long discussion, it was unanimously resolved. That the offer of the Fire Brigade, re the engine, be declined. Resolved, That the Wellington agent of Merryweather and Sons, and the Napier agent of Shand, Mason, and Co., be applied to for prices and terms for engines of certain descriptions. Resolved, That the Borough Council be applied to for the amount of subsidy promised. This was all the business.
