Of course, a medical man Wus applied to, but it steadily increased until face and head were one dark brown crust of sores. Then it spread to the body, chest, back, and all fleshy parts. Medical skill appeared to be of no use, but often made him worse. In despair I looked •ipou the doctors as useless beings of the community. On the 17th of September last the child was shown to Dr Spkeb, .now residing in Wellington. Ou looking •at him for a minute or two he struck at the root of the disease at once, as a man of great skill can do. After the first fire days' treatment, smnll strips of healthy skin became visible; in less than a month the skin was clean ; two months a •wonderful improvement on the body. After four months' treatment there only remains a few marks on his legs and ■wrists. The child is still under Dr Speeb's care, as he declares it will take some time yet to entirely remove it from his system. It must aho not be forgotten to add that the medicines have not had the least unpleasant effect on the internal -organs, which always was the case in previous treatments.
