The New Timber Company
] PEH XTSIXBD PHKSB ASSOCIATION."! Auckland, This Day. The prospectus of the Kauri Timber Company has been received from Sydney. It shows that the company has a capital of £1,200,000 in 600,000 shares of £2 each, of which 450,000 are offered in Melbourne at 5s on application, 5s on allotment, 5s in a month, and 5s in three months ; the remaining 150,000 shares are retained for the vendors, who guarantee a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, for 4 years on the paid up capital. It is rumoured that Sir Arthur Gordon, who is not unknown to fame in New Zealand and who ie now Governor of Ceylon, is about to be raised to a peerage. We do not know what his new title will be, but we are informed, by private wire, that his motto will be " The potatoe is cooked." A curious rep«rt was ci related yesterday that an < arly attempt would be made t cist the Government, and tbat a new Ministry might be forn.el from the Opposition ranks, headed by Captain Bussell or MrOrmond.
