Unlucky Speculators

I PBB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION."! Auckland, July 8. Five well known citizens — Messrs G-. Aicken, chemist, G. Fraaer, land agent, A. Kidd, hofcelkeeper, M. Fraser, iron founder, and H. Campbell, solicitor — lodged petitions yesterday to be adjudged bankrupts. Their failure is not due to business difficulties, but to the non-sucess of a syndicate in which they engaged some years ago for the purchase of a block of land at EUerslie, The Bank of New South Wales obtained judgment against them a few days ago in respect to money lent to the syndicate, with the result that the five gentlemen named have filed petitions of insolvency.
