. * The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Wanganui on Tuesday last — Present. Messrs Carson (chair), Fry, Baker, _oss, Notman, Sanson, and Bridge. The cash statement showed a credit of £2724 18s 9d on the general account, and an overdraft of £105 4s sd, with liabilities of £1863 19a on the Building Account. It was reported that the Board Inspector had prepared the following classification of assistant teachers in their employ recommended same for adoption by the committee amongst them being Feilding— lst, M. Lightbown ; 2nd, James ; 3rd, Miss Cleary, The following new scale of payments to assistant mistresses was adopted: — Average attendance, lat. 2nd. 3rd. £ £ £ 162 to 108 ... 98 75 187 to 212 ... 100 82 213 to 250 ... 105 90 251 to 300 ... 112 94 75 301 to 350 ... 120 94 79 351 to 400 ... 127 98 82 401 to 450 ... 135 100 86 In schools where more than the above number of assistants are employed they shall be paid a salary to be fixed by the Board, but such salary shall not exceed the amount paid to the previous grade. A report on the Awaburi Schoolhouse was read, and it was decided to obtain tenders for the repairs required.
