The Attorney- General moved the insertion of the following new claube after clause 6 : — The Surveyor-Gen-eral, subject to the approval of the Governor, may revoke, either absolutely or for such time as he shall think fit, the license of any surveyor licensed under the Land Transfer Act, 1887, upon the ground of negligence, incompetence, or misconduct on the part of such surveyor. Any person whose license is so cancelled shall cease to be a licensed surveyor from and after the day when a notification of such cancellation is gazetted. — The clause having been agreed to, progress was reported, leave being given to ait again. Wexlington, June 16. In the House of Representatives. The Minister for Public Works moved that the discussion of the Customs and Excise Duties Bill be post* poned till Friday. Mr.Macarthur opposed the adjournment, and said that as there were -five ; able-bodied Ministers on the Treasury benches they could surely go on. If not, why not let one of the leaders of the Opposition take charge of it? (Laughter). / The adjournment was agreed to. The Colonial Secretary moved that the Legislative Council's amendments to the Chinese Immigrants Act Amendment Bill be agreed to. The House . disagreed, and a committee, comprising Messrs Ballance, Seddon, and Guinness, was appointed to confer with a committee of the Legislative Council on the Council'samendments. The Fair Bent Bill, after some discussion, passed its second reading. June 20. Eeplying to questions, it was stated that the question of appointing a Supreme . Court Judge was still under consideration. — That it was not intended to complete the Manawatu Gorge Line for the summer traffic this year. The line washung up like others till it was decided what amount of money should be spent this year, and it was intended that the expenditure on the line should last over three years, fall 1891. The House went into Committee on the Land for Settlement Bill. After some further amendments had been made, Mr Lance moved to report progress. This being carried, progress was reported, and the House rose at 12.40.
