The Codlin Moth
About eighteen members attended a meeting on Thursday to consider the Oodljn Moth Bill, now before the Xegislathre Council. Captain Baillie, presided. After discussion, it was decided to recommend that all the clauses between the fifth and the twentieth be struck out, and that stone fruit be eliminated from the operation of the Bill, The object of these amendments will be that the Bill will, without them, simply provide that fruit districts may be constituted, and power given to prevent infected fruit being removed from such districts. Thj Governor may prohibit the importation of fruit, and machinery is provided for prosecutions under the Bill. Mr Hobbs suggested that the best course would be for the Council to read the Bill a second time, then stake the amendments suggested in committee; Mr Stevens who has charge of the Bill, stated that he had no objection to adopting Mr Barriicoat'd suggestion to tefer the Bill to a •elect committee of AevCouncil, and that cotfrle >*ill probably be adopted.
