Mr T. W. GHover, the great temperance lecturer, addressed a large audience in the Salvation Army Barracks last night. Mr Glover will officiate in the Primitive Methodist Church to-morrow night at 7 o'clock.
About 8.30 o'clock last night the police received information that a man named Soufflot, residing in Ball street, had attempted to destroy himself by stabbing himself with a sheath knife. Sergeant Kelly and Constable Browne at one proceeded to the scene, but the result of their inquiries we had not heard up to the time of going to press. Domestic troubles are supposed to have led t > him committing the rash act. It is not anticipated- that the wounds are likely to jjrove fatal,— ObrooicU.
