(per united pr ess. association ) Dunedin, May 31. The Manufacturer's Association have considered the tariff, and have decided to forward, a number recommendations to tbe Government. The jam manufacturers haveforw arded a joint telegram to the Otago members pointing out that the duty on truit pulp, and particularly on preserved fruit, will close their factories, and throw out of emnloyment 1 10 hands. They contend that a duty of l_d per lb is equal to 200 j per cent, ad valorem. Christchubch, May 31. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Jockey club was held to»day.
