Feilding Fire Brigade
• A meeting of the Fire Brigade was held at Captain Bray's office, on Tuesday evening, the Captain in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and some correspondence was also read. A statement of receipts and expenses in connection with the late sports and concert was presented, and was on the whole satisfactory. It was resolved to obtain a fire bell at a cost of about £10, the belltower to be erected on the corner of Manchester Square next Mr .Brown's store, provided the Borough Council have no objection. The Captain was to wait upon the Council in the matter and having volunteered to prepare plans and specifications, his offer was accepted, and tenders were to be called for the work. The Captain and Lieutenant were deputed to visit Woodville to inspect the Woodville Brigade's engine, and to report upon the advisableness of purchasing the same for Feilding. The Secretary was instructed to write to Meesrs Stevens and Gorton, presenting the hearty thanks of the Brigade for the use of their large room for the concert held on the 24th instant. The Captain, Secretary, and Treasurer, were, authorised to sign cheques on the Bank of Australasia for payments on behalf of the Brigade. Captain Bray and Fireman Carthew were nominated for appointment by the Mayor as Fire Inspectors in accordance with the Act. A committee was appointed for the purpose of drawing up rules and regulations for the Brigade. It was decided that the regular monthly meetings be on the second Thursday in eajh month, and that any two officers and four members form a quorum. The passing of accounts for payment concluded the business.
