The Fire Brigade

There was a meeting of the above held on Tuesday last, and it will be seen from our report of the proceedings that the gentlemen who have accepted the duties and responsibilities of the management of the affairs of the Brigade, are the right men to make them a success. In order to raise the necessary funds a general subscription list has been opened and canvassers appointed to collect ; while a supplementary revenue is to be raised by the Brigade holding sports on the Oval on the occasion ot the celebration of the Queen's birthday. In the evening of that day the Brigade will have a torchlight procession, and afterwards a concert. We understand the Palmerston Fire Brigade will be asked to assist, although it is not expected the whole of the members will accept the invitation as a sufficient number would have to remain at home in case of accidents. One thing is certain — a splendid programme will be provided for the day, when we hope every one in the town and neighborhood will display their loyalty to the Queen, the Brigade, and their fellow settlers, by patronising their own folks. No doubt there will be lots of other attractions offered outside, but we think that on the occasion in question all these temptations should be stoutly resisted in order that the first fete of the Feildrog Volunteer Fire Brigade may be celebrated with due eclat.
