When six weeks old, or thereabouts, small reddish spots appeared in the face, about the size of a , pip's head. Of course, a medical man was applied to, but it steadily increased nntil face and head were one dark brown crust of sores. Then it spread to the body, chest, back, joints and all fleshy parts. Medical skill appeared to be of no use, but often made him worse. In despair I looked uponthe doctors as useless beings of the comwinity. On the 17th of September last the child was shown to Dr Spker, now residing in Wellington. On looking at him for a minute or two he struck at the roof of /the disease at, once, as a man of great skill can do. After the first five days" treatmentj smull, strips of healthy skin became visible; in less than a month the skin was clean- two months a wonderful improvement on the body. After four months' treatment there only remains a few marks on his legs and wrists. The child is still, under Dr Speee's care, as he declares it will take some time yet to entirely remove it from his system. It must also not be forgotten to add that the medicines have not had the least unpleasant effect on the internal organs, which always was the ; case m j>reviqms treatments.
