A meeting of ratepayers in the upper end of No. 5 ward was held in the school-room on* Friday night. There was a good attendance, Mr 0. Pleasants presiding. He explained the object of the meeting, and after a good deal of discussion it was Proposed by Mr John Neilson, seconded by Mr W. H. Fletcher, That this meeting pledges itself not to sign the petition now in course of circulation in the Manchester Road District to take over a portion of the Manawatu Road District. — Carried. Proposed by Mr W. Gk Pearce, seconded by Mr W. H. Fletcher, That everyone present at the meeting sign a petition to the Manchester Road Board to re- construct No. •*> ward. — Carried. , ...
