Rich Gold Discovery
ORE WORTH £11,000 PER TON. [ PKR UXITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION. | Auckland, April 23. j Messrs J. Fraser and Sons have just completed a small crushing of voiy rich ore at their reducing panß at the Phoenix Foundry for some prospectors who have evidently made a rich discovery. Tho ' locality of the find is on the Coromandel Peninsula, between the head of tho Mai naia and Mercury Bay, and the total ! quantity crushed was Gibs of stone, the j 1 result of which was 10^ ounces of gold of \ a value of £'<i per ounce. It way in fact i nearly pure gold, containing a very small ' proportion oi silver. The result is equal , to a value of £11,000 per ton, and the whole cost of treatmout of the parcel was onlj' ten shillings.
