There is no competitive market locally for milling wheat, and consequently the business done is not worth reporting; nominal values are from 3s to 3s 2d; fowls' grain is plentiful at 2s 9d to 2s lid per bushel; wheatmeal, £9; flour, old, £9 10s; new ditto, £8 10s to £9; oatmeal, £9 ss; sheaf chaff, £4; straw ditto, £8; maize, old season's 4s; new ditto, 3s lOd ; feed barley 2s 10d; beanß2s 74; peas, 3s 7d; rye grass seed (Poverty Bay, machine cleaned}, 3s lOd to 4s ; farmers parcels, 2b 6d to Ss per bushel ; cocksfoot 3id to 4d per lb ; Italian rye, 3s 6d per bushel; potatoes from £2 lOfc to £2 15b : onions, £5 ; cheese, 4Jd to 4id« loaf ditto, 4fd to sd; fresh ■butter, 7d; salt ditto, 6d to 6*d ; effgs. ls 9d » hamß * nd bacon, 7fd ; honey, sd; lard, 4d. The fruit market is eomewhat scantily supplied, only plums, apples, pears, quinces reaching in any quantity, and are realising prices satisfactory to shippers ; tomatoes and cucumbers ate over-supplied.
