The Late Fire
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB. Sib, — Is it not time that something was done in the way of fire prevention in Feilding P lam aware of the many difficulties that stand in the way of maintaining a Fire Brigade in a town where there is no supply of running water, but in other townships — notably in Hawera — the Fire Brigades have been able to do good service in stopping the spread of fire, with no superior adrantages, as regards water supply. For years we scarcely had a fire in Feilding, but of late they have been so numerous as to cast a damp on all enterprise in the way of new buildings, thus retarding the pro« gresß of the town, and injuring the building, and indeed all other trades I would suggest that the Mayor call a public meeting, nnd that every one who has a stake in the place, attend in order that, if possible, some means may be devised of putting a stop to such an undesirable state of things as now exists. — I am, &c, D. H. Macaethoe.
