Persistent reports are being circulated to the effect that Prince Bismarck, fearing that Russia may take umbrage at the projected betrothal of Prince Alexander of Battenburg to the Princess Victoria, daughter of the Emperor, has tendered his resignation as Chancellor of the Empire. London, April 6. There is great excitement all over the Continent in consequence of the rumoured retirement of Prince Bismarck from the Chancellorship of the German Empire, < Chbistchuhch, This Day. Yesterday afternoon two young men and two girls, rowing up the river through the domain, saw a man sitting on the bank drunk. They removed him from the bank and went further. An hour later they came back and found him lying in the water drowned. He was identified as James Fergusson, farmer of Sefton.
