The Fielding Star. TUESDAY, APRIL 3, 1888. New Parliamentary Rules
The new rules of proceedure prepared by Ministers are very stringent. It is proposed that Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in each week shall be devoted to Government business, Friday only being given to private 'members. The House is to meet each sitting day at 10.30 a.m., and with an adjournment for lunch, is to continue sitting until 5.30 p.m., when the Speaker will leave the chair for the day unless, on motion, the House resolves to Bit at night. No member is to be permitted to move the adjournment more than twice during auy sitting, and when ever the Speaker is satisfied a question has been sufficiently debated, he is to apply the closure, and at once put the question. These rules will simply smother poor Dick Seddon.
