The Fielding Star. TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 1888. The Norsewood Disaster
In another column the Mayor of Feilding invites contributions in clothing and food, also in hard cash, for the benefit of those unfortunate families who have been rendered homeless, and almost starving, by the terrible fire which swept away the township of Norsewood a few days ago. As the people of Feilding in particular, and the settlers on the Manchester Block generally, have always in the past shown open handed generosity in their charity when the occasion offered, we have every confidence they will respond cordially to the appeal now made to them. Mrs Maoakthub has undertaken to receive and forward all gifts of food or clothing, while subscription lists for money contributions have been opened at the Bank of Australasia, the Bank of New Zea,land, the Post Office and the Feeing Stab office, in which journal all contributions will be duly acknowledged.
