The yards held about the usual supply of beef, for which the bidding was brisker than of late, the quality being from fair to good. The sheep pens con* tamed a line of useful wethers from Wairarapa, selling at an advance upon recent quotations. Shorn lambs (none in wool being offered) showed an advance upon late rates. No pigs came for* ward. Beef— Best bullocks from Lo 10s to L 6 15s, averaging L 5 12s 6d ; >-nd L 5 7s 6d to L 5 15s, averaging L 5 lls 2d ; light weights, from L 4 5s to Lts ss, averaging L 4 17s ; beef u>ade 13s to 14s the lOOlbs. Sheep— Wethers, 8s 6d to 8s lid ; ewes and wethers (tniied), light weights, 6s 6d to 7s 4d ; shorn lambs, 5s to 5s Bd, nv-gmg 5» 6d.
At our (Stevens and (rorton's) stock sale held on Tue ay 1 ~t, 5000 sheep and 100 head of attle were entered. The following prices . ere realised : — Fat cows 37s 6d to L 3 12s 6d ; forward wethers, 7s 3d to 7s 7d ; Liucoln ewes. 5s 3d to 7s 4d ; crossbred ewes, 4s to 5s 3d ; fat ewes 5s 6d to 6s 2d ; young ewes interferior, 4s 6d ; shorn lambs, 4s ; woolly do os ld.
