Volunteers
In the Wanganui Bifle Association's programme for Good Friday it is proposed to give LBO in prizes.^ The range selected on Balgownie is specially handy, being approachable either by road or rail. Canvas targets are to be used, and Captain Sommerville will be asked to take the command of the meeting, than whom no better officer could possibly Deselected. A mistake has been made, (the Herald think) in allowing Volunteers to fire in mufti. Those who saw the first match at the last N.Z.R. A. meeting at Oamaru, saw quite sufficient to convince them that shooting in uniform is the only method that can be adopted with satisfaction. Colonel Stapp has received word from the Government to the effect that members of Volunteer corps in this district may travel free (in uniform) to and from the Association meeting, . The Feilding Match will be at 400 and 500 yards ; 7 shots at each range.
