In the case in which William Bobert* son, master of the Oreti, claims the sum of £626 178 6d from the vessel as wages and disbursements, judgment^was .'given for the plaintiff, the settlement of accounts being referred to the Registrar, and with him a merchant versed in shipping matters. The question of costs nas reserved. The claim of Gregory and others for wages, amounting to nearly £400, was also called, and judgment given for claimants, the same course to be pursued as in the former case. Uapieb, March 14.

Two swaggers marching through Mr W. Douglas's run to-day drew some water from a tank and made some tea. Shortly afterwards they were taken violently ill, and when a shepherd dis* covered them he removed them to the homestead, as he suspected that the men hud been drinkine from a tank which contained arsenical sheep dip. •;.. Dr T. J. Bennie who is connected with the Canadmn lady doctor, was committed for trial to day for alleged indecent assault on a tirl of 17 years of age, who was consulting him It was contended for the defence that toe charge was a trumped up one. Bail was allowed and Bennie was released.

Wanganui, This Day. Word has been received from Colonel Stapp that volunteers in the Wanganui district, wishing to attend the Wanganui Rifle Asseciation meeting, on Good Fri day, will be allowed free passes.
