Lord Randolph Churchill and Mr Glad* stone objected to it, allrgiag that it was . improperly included in the Supplementary Estimates until preof was available that the colony had ratified the agree* ment regarding New Guinea. Lord Randolph Churchill insisted that the Queensland Government ought to pay all costs i if they wanted to colonise New Guinea, j but Baron de Worms replied that Queensland had fulfilled her engagement and it was incumbent on England to ful* fil hers.
