THE HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sik,--I beg to differ with you when you say the decisions of the judges at the Show gave satisfaction in fts4»» cases. Iv the* first place, the second prize for collection of vegetables did not give satisfaction to a great many lookers on. In the second place, as to the second prize for the collection of apples, I must say Mr Scarrow's collection was the second best in the Show. ;• I was. sorry to see they were looked coldly on because they were not properly arranged/There are other items I could mention, but these two are sufficient to prove justice was not given in all cases. I agree with " Cockatoo Farmer's" letter in your last issue, in saying we want fresh blood in the Society. At present too much power is left in the hands of individuals. The Committee should be more representative. Another thing, professionals should not be allowed to compete against cottagers. The latter has his day's work to do, while the professional gives his whole time to his garden. They should be in separate classes. We should also have outside judges. — I am, &c, A Cottager.
