Father Stephens and Jasper Pyne, M.P., have been committed on a charge of inciting resistance to the Sheriff, and e» ?h has been sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Notice of appeal has been given in each case. Sir George Trevelyan, M.P. for Bridgeton, speaking on the aiiiendment to the Address»m-in»Reply in the House of Commons, said that the policy adopted by the Government with reference to Ireland was not tended to pacify the people, but had alienated all sympathy, and had also caused a decreased res peer for the law. The debate had been further adjourned. Teenier has issued a challenge to row any person in the world over a two '•mile course for any sum. The creditors in the bankrupt estate of Lord Augustus Lof tvs, late Governor of New South Wales, have accepted his offer of £2000 cash. The bankruptcy will now be annulled. Prince Napoleon has been requested to order his son, Prince Louis, to leave the Italian Army, which it is said, is being organised to operate against France. The Army Estimates include a sum of £450,000 as an instalment towards pro* viding an auxiliary squadron. The Agenta»General have promised to coooperata with the Emigrants Aid Society in furnishing official information to intending imigrants to the colonies. . Pig iron has fallen, and is quoted at 32s 9d. A heavy snowstorm has been experienced over the greater portion of Great Britain, and the railway traffic has been greatly impeded. It is stated that changes in the Cabinet are impending and that Baron H. de Worms will succeed the Earl of Onslow as Under- Secretary for the colonies. San Remo, February 15. The Latest bulletins published give a less hopeful account of the condition of the Crown Prince. Dublin, February 15. The Mayor of Cork has been sentenced to a fortnight's imprisonment for assaulting the police who were engaaed in stopping a display arranged by the Nationalists. New York, February 15. A derrick which whs being used rais« ing the girders for the elevated railway in course of construction in a Brooklyu street, overbalanced and fell on a crowded tramcar thatt was passing. Three of the passengers were killed and seventeen badly injured — some so much so that fatal results aro feared. The cause of the accident is attribted to the carelessness of the engineer in charge of the works. Paris, February 16. M. Felix Faure, who was appointed Under Secretary for the Colonies in M iirard's Ministry on January 3rd has resigned that position.
