The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1888. Political
* The next session of Parliament promises to exceed any of its predecessors in singularity if we may accept as correct the statement of the Post, to the effect that Sir Julias Vooel will be in England, Sir GteOBOB Geey absent from ifihealth, and Sir Habby Atkinson preparing to go to England to assume the duties of Agent-General. Sir John Hall will alone remain as a possible leader, but as the colony has had quite enough of him he is not likely to be intrigued into the Premiership without a considerable outcry. Captain Bttssell is suggested as the " coming man." On the latter point we are inclined to have some doubts, for, although he is highly popular, yet he is comparatively an untried man, and as a member of the " squatocracy" would not be very acceptable to the " liberals." Should Sir Habbt Atkinson leave, bis party would be entirely disintegrated and new combinations be formed.
