VOLUNTEER REDUCTIONS.

Wellington, This Day. Reductions in the Defence Department include eight officers and fifty men. The names of the offlcera who have resigned or .been dispensed with are— Major-Generai Whitmore/ Lieut. Col. Bodham, Lieut.-Col. Roberts, Majors Scannell and Gascoigne, Capts. Capol and Baker, and Dr Campbell, surgeon. Reductions are still being made among the men, and the above reductions are independent of those effected in the Works Department. In the Volunteer Department seven instructors and commanding officers have been dispensed with. The school of musketry has been abolished and. the whole of the adjutants have been reduced by £50 per annum
