Volunteers
The Manchester Rifles fired for Captain Macarthur' s prizes on. Saturday afternoon. The' day was fine, and in every way suited for making big scores, but unfortuuately the smoke from the bush fires obscured the range. The handicapping was satisfactory, and seventeen men competed. The following are the total scores, from it will be seeu Sergt. Bilderbeck won the first prize, Vol Stevens second, Vol. Patterson third :—
The following will represent the corps at the Oaniaru meeting :•— Capt. Macarthur, Color-Sergt. Bilderbeck, Corps. Chamberlain and Henson, Vols. Humphries and Stevens. The next parade of the Manchester Rifles will be on Friday the 24th inst. Lieutenants H olden, of Wanganui Uifles, Johnston, Eawera Rifles, and Kirton, Manchester Rifles, have successfully passed their examinations.
